Contacts: add, import and send to the people you sign with

Contacts in the sidebar lists everyone you've sent a document to for signature or who sent you one, plus anyone you add or import. Click Send to sign next to someone and the document you pick opens in Invite to sign with them already filled in.

  2. Send someone a document
  3. Edit, delete and export
  4. What each contact shows

Contacts fills itself: when you send a request for signature, each recipient appears, and so does anyone who sends a request to your confirmed email address. You can also add people yourself, import a list, and export everything.

Add or import people

  1. Step 1: Add one person

Click Add contact, enter a name, email and optional company, then Add contact.

  2. Step 2: Import a list

Click Import, then choose a CSV or Excel (.xlsx) file, or paste rows. The first row holds the column names: name, email and optionally company (common names in English, Spanish, French, German and Japanese are recognised). Up to 1,000 rows per import.

  3. Step 3: Check and import

The preview marks rows with a missing or invalid email, or repeated in the list; those are skipped. People you already have keep their name unless you tick Update names of contacts I already have. Click Import.

Send someone a document

  1. Step 1: Click Send to sign

Next to the person, click Send to sign.

  2. Step 2: Pick the document

Choose one of your documents or upload one. It opens in Invite to sign with that person as the first recipient.

  3. Step 3: Place their fields and send

Place their signature and other fields, then Send. See Request signatures.

Edit, delete and export

  • Edit (in the ⋯ menu) changes the name and company. The email address is the contact, so to change it, add the new address and delete the old one.
  • Delete removes a contact you added. Someone from your signing history is hidden instead: your requests with them stay, they just stop appearing in Contacts.
  • Export CSV downloads the whole list with each person's counts, ready for a spreadsheet.

What each contact shows

  • Their name, company if you added one, and email address.
  • You sent … and … signed: requests you sent them and how many they completed. Sent you …: requests they sent you.
  • Last: when you last exchanged a document, or Saved contact for people you added who have no history yet.
Can my team see my contacts?

No. Contacts are yours: built from your own requests plus the people you added.

How many contacts can I save?

Up to 5,000 added or imported contacts. People from your signing history don't count toward that.

Is Contacts available without an account?

No. Guests see an explanation and a button to create a free account.
