Notifications and the emails PDFBetter sends you

The bell in the dashboard shows the last 30 days of activity on what you sent: opened, signed, declined, completed, expired and new form responses. We also email you about signatures, form responses and shared documents; turn those off in Settings → Notifications.

The notifications bell

The bell in the dashboard's top bar lists events on signature requests you sent and responses to your fill links from the last 30 days, newest first:

  • … opened “…”: a recipient opened the document.
  • … signed “…” and “…” is complete — everyone signed.
  • … declined to sign “…”.
  • “…” expired before everyone signed.
  • … filled out “…”: a new form response.

Click an event to open that request or form. All signature requests at the bottom opens Sent. Mark all read clears the count on every device you're signed in on: the web, the desktop app and other browsers. Guests don't have notifications.

Emails about what you sent

EmailWhen
Signed by …: …Someone finished signing and others still have to. It says how many people are left.
Completed: …Everyone finished. The signed PDF and Certificate of Completion are attached; download links work for 7 days.
Declined: … or Paper copy requested: …A recipient declined, with their reason if they gave one, or asked to sign on paper. The request is closed.
Expired: …The request reached its expiry date before everyone signed.
New response to “…”Someone submitted your form, if Email me on each response is on for that form. The answers are never in the email.

Account emails

We also send the emails your account needs: confirming your email address, sign-in links, password resets, team invitations, a reminder before a free trial ends, a notice if a payment fails, and, for developers, a notice when a webhook endpoint is disabled. Emails are in your app language.

Turning emails off

  1. Step 1: Open Notifications

    Go to Settings → Notifications.

  2. Step 2: Switch off what you don't want

Each switch saves right away: Signature progress (someone signed, others still to go), Request outcomes (completed, declined, expired), Form responses, Filled copies of shared documents and Notarizations.

Every optional email also has a link at the bottom to turn that kind of email off with one click, and mail apps that support it show an Unsubscribe button. Form responses works together with each form's own Email me on each response switch: both have to be on for that form's emails to arrive.

Do signers get reminders from me?

Yes, if you set Reminders when sending; they go to people who haven't finished, not to you. See Track, remind or cancel a request.

I'm not getting any emails.

Confirm your email address first, then check spam. See Emails aren't arriving.

Can I get notified in Slack or another app?

Yes, through Zapier or Make or your own webhooks.
