Find and organize your documents: folders, tags, search and trash
Everything you upload, create, sign or send is in My documents. Sort it into folders and tags, filter by status or name, and search everything with ⌘K. Deleted documents stay in Trash for 30 days, where you can restore them.

Find a document
- Press ⌘ K and type part of the name. Choose Search all documents for “…” to see every match.
- On My documents, type in Filter by name or tag (or press /) to narrow the list as you type.
- Use the status tabs: Recent, Action required, Drafts, Waiting for others and Finalized.
- Open Filter & sort to show only Documents, Templates or Forms, sort by Last activity, Name, Date created or Pages, and switch between List, Grid and Thumbnails.
Use folders and tags
Step 1: Create a folder
On My documents, click New folder (the plus next to Folders), type a Folder name and click Create folder.
Step 2: Move documents into it
Open a document's ⋯ menu and choose Move to, or tick several documents and click Move to… in the selection bar.
Step 3: Add tags
Choose Edit tags in a document's menu, or select several and click Add tags. Separate tags with commas. Click a tag under Tags to filter by it.
Deleting a folder keeps its documents; they move out to Not in a folder. Rename or delete a folder from its menu in the folder list.
Delete and restore
Choose Move to trash in a document's menu, or select several and use the same button; click Undo in the message if it was a mistake. Deleted documents stay in Trash (bottom of the sidebar, or G then T) for 30 days, where Restore puts them back. What Delete forever erases, and what's kept, is in Delete documents, and restore them from the trash.
I can't move a document to the trash.
Only the owner can. If a teammate owns it, ask them, or choose Stop sharing with team if you shared it.
Where are documents other people sent me?
Documents to sign are under Received; documents someone invited you to edit are under Shared with me (see Find documents other people shared with you).
My guest draft shows “Guest draft · deleted”.
Guest drafts expire 1 hour after they're created. Create a free account to keep future drafts.
