# Change the language of the app

> PDFBetter speaks English, Español, 日本語, Français and Deutsch. In the app, go to **Settings** → **Profile & signatures** → **Language** and pick an **App language**; it also sets the language of emails we send you. On the website, use the language menu in the header or footer.

The app, the website and our emails are available in five languages: English, Spanish (Español), Japanese (日本語), French (Français) and German (Deutsch). The copy is written for each market, so templates and examples use local formats and currencies.

1. **Open Settings**: Click **Settings** at the bottom of the sidebar, or open the account menu and choose **Profile**.
2. **Find Language**: On **Profile & signatures**, the **Language** section is near the top.
3. **Pick a language**: Choose from **App language**. The app switches right away. For an account, the choice is used for the app and the emails we send you, on every device.

As a guest, the choice is **Saved on this browser**. Create an account to keep it on every device.

## On the website

On public pages, open the **Language** menu in the header or footer. It opens the same page in the language you choose when that page exists, and otherwise that language's home page. Your choice is remembered in this browser.

## What isn't translated

- This help center is in English.
- Your documents are never translated automatically. To translate a PDF, use the [AI PDF Translator](https://pdfbetter.com/tools/ai-pdf-translator/), which makes a separate translated copy. See [Translate a PDF with AI](https://help.pdfbetter.com/ai/translate-edit-proofread-ai/).
- People you send documents to get emails in their own saved language if they have a PDFBetter account, and otherwise in the language of your request.

### The app opened in the wrong language.

On a first visit, PDFBetter follows your browser's language. Change it in **Settings** and it sticks.

### Can I request a language that isn't listed?

Not yet. Tell us which one through [Contact](https://pdfbetter.com/contact/); we read every message.
