You add a card at checkout, nothing is charged during the trial, and if you cancel before it ends you pay nothing. Do it in PDFBetter: https://pdfbetter.com/app/settings/billing/ New accounts start on the Free plan. There is no automatic trial when you sign up: the trial starts only when you choose Pro or Business and complete checkout. 1. **Open Plan & usage**: In the app, open [Settings → Plan & usage](https://pdfbetter.com/app/settings/billing/). You can also pick a plan on the [pricing page](https://pdfbetter.com/pricing/). 2. **Choose a plan**: Click **Start free trial · yearly** under Pro or Business, or the **Monthly** button for monthly billing. If your account can't get a trial, the button says **Upgrade · yearly** instead and the plan is charged at checkout. 3. **Add a card in checkout**: Checkout is handled by Stripe. A card is required even though nothing is charged today. 4. **Start using the plan**: You land back on **Plan & usage** with the message **Your free trial has started.** The plan shows a **Free trial** badge and the date it ends. ## What happens when the trial ends - We email you a reminder three days before the trial ends. - If you do nothing, the subscription starts on the end date and the plan price is charged to your card. For example, Pro monthly is $15 a month. - If you cancel before the end date, you aren't charged. You keep the plan until the trial ends, then your account moves to Free. ## Who gets a trial One trial per account. If your account has had a subscription before, on the web or through the App Store, including an earlier trial, the plan is charged from the first day. **Plan & usage** tells you which case applies before you check out. > **Switching plans during a trial:** You can switch between Pro and Business, or monthly and yearly, while trialing. The trial keeps running on the new plan and nothing is charged until it ends. ### I canceled the trial by mistake. Can I undo it? Yes. Until the trial ends, **Plan & usage** shows **Resume plan**. Click it and the subscription continues as before. ### Why was I charged right away? Your account had a subscription or trial before, so it wasn't eligible. If the first payment was made on pdfbetter.com, you can ask for a refund within 14 days. ### Does the trial include everything in the plan? Yes.
