# Plans bought in the App Store or on AppSumo

> An App Store subscription unlocks your plan on every device, but Apple bills it, so you change, cancel or refund it through Apple. An AppSumo lifetime deal is paid once on AppSumo and redeemed from your AppSumo account.

## App Store subscriptions

If you subscribe in the PDFBetter [iPhone or iPad app](https://help.pdfbetter.com/apps/iphone-ipad-app/), Apple bills you. The plan is attached to your PDFBetter account, so it also works on pdfbetter.com and in the desktop apps. **Plan & usage** on the web shows an **App Store** badge, the billing interval and the renewal date.

- You can't buy a second plan on the web while an App Store plan is active; web checkout tells you to manage it in the App Store instead.
- A plan bought on pdfbetter.com unlocks the iPhone app too. The app shows **Manage on pdfbetter.com** instead of App Store options.
- Reinstalled the app or got a new phone? In the app, open **Account → Plan → Restore purchases**.
- [Deleting your PDFBetter account](https://help.pdfbetter.com/privacy-security/export-data-and-delete-account/) doesn't cancel an App Store subscription. Cancel it with Apple first.

## AppSumo lifetime deals

AppSumo lifetime licenses are paid once on AppSumo. Nothing renews and nothing is billed by PDFBetter. Monthly allowances still reset on the 1st of each month.

1. **Start on AppSumo**: In your AppSumo account, open your products and activate the PDFBetter license.
2. **Sign in to PDFBetter**: AppSumo sends you to PDFBetter. Log in, or create an account. The license is added to the account you're signed in to.
3. **Check your plan**: You'll see **Your lifetime … plan is active**. **Plan & usage** then shows **Lifetime (AppSumo)** with your tier.

### It says the license is already linked to another account.

Each license can be linked to one PDFBetter account. Log in with that account, or contact support if it wasn't you.

### How do I change my AppSumo tier?

Upgrade or downgrade the license on AppSumo. An account can hold one AppSumo license at a time.

### Can I get an AppSumo refund from PDFBetter?

No. AppSumo handles refunds for licenses bought there. A refunded license is deactivated and the account returns to Free.
